Project Management

“Defined as the application of knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to meet project requirements.”

We understand that project management is a people business and the framework of effectiveness that lies within the group’s involvement, both individually and collectively. The essence of effective project management lies in the ability of the project participants, staff and key personnel, within the group to become of one mind united together with one common goal, one vision.

Our company is structured on communications and interactions with the incumbent staff on project variations; furthermore, will gain their understanding, buy-in, and active participation in the project development process. These exchanges will bring trust and understanding, as well as building relations that will be useful in all interfaces with the supply chain, not just on projects.

We also recognize that our staff must efficiently and economically deliver a quality project controls service within a fixed timeframe. As project controls specialists’ of large complex projects, we possess a wide range of skills. Our project controls staff & team members are committed to have a combination of rigorous leadership principles, inventive management techniques, knowledge of project control methods and experience to address any situation, and sheer determination in order to be successful. While successful projects have been accomplished with limited procedures, most large organizations tend to inject some formality into their management processes in order to establish a productive work culture and maintain relative consistency.

Upfront Planning

We strive and emphasize standards and conformance with DOE O 413.3A and the American National Standards Institute/Electronic Industries Alliance (ANSI/EIA)-748. The majority of our clients’ past performance projects were started with an inadequate baseline, estimates, and a lack of project scope definition. As a result, the baseline and estimates had to be increased and/or scopes redefined. Such project revisions can be avoided with robust upfront planning.

Establishing reliable baseline estimates in the early stages of a project is acknowledged to be difficult, primarily because of the many project unknowns, and the fact that project scope has not been completely defined. A rigorous risk assessment of alternative solutions under various scenarios provides a means of raising the confidence level that can be placed in early estimates.

Not surprisingly, the projects that received the most robust upfront planning seemed to have the fewest problems during project execution. The argument over whether the project can sustain or move forward without proper project controls support has been debated over several decades. It is intuitive that clients' invest in early planning which sufficiently yields a large reduction in problems and surprises during the later stages of the project’s development. PTCGL’s upfront approach to planning takes many forms including project execution plans, procurements, planning, and risk management; furthermore, drives home our beliefs that project controls is vitally essential.
